Crusher hammers, kiln components and vertical raw mill grinding elements face abrasion, impact and pressure at the same time, and the established answer is not replacement but rebuild — gouging out fatigued material, rough grinding, machining, building back up with hardfacing wire and stress relieving afterwards. Chromium-carbide and tungsten-carbide overlays are chosen for the specific wear mode, and getting that choice wrong is expensive.
