UAE defence manufacturing has moved decisively toward localisation — EDGE Group and Tawazun now push for components to be made in the Emirates rather than imported, and programmes such as Make it in the Emirates are built around qualifying local precision-engineering suppliers. Much of the real work is unglamorous: parts that are obsolete, undocumented, or needed in quantities too small for an OEM to care about.
