Industrial Sectors — 05 / Rotating equipment & severe service

Pumps, Flow Control & Valves

Refineries, petrochemical plants and water utilities live or die on pumps and valves, and the industry has become specific about how they are put back together. API RP 697 now sets out how an API 610 pump should be inspected and repaired, API 682 governs the seal chamber it has to accept, and severe-service valves are expected to be re-tested, not merely re-assembled. A repair that ignores those geometries will not hold once it is back in the line.

What this sector demands

  • Repair discipline to API RP 697, covering inspection, machining, reassembly and re-installation of API 610 pumps
  • Seal chambers restored to the dimensions and runout API 682 seals require
  • Hydrostatic and seat testing before a pump or valve is released back to the plant
  • Trim, seat and sealing-face restoration on severe-service valves handling erosive or high-differential duty
  • Shutdown-window turnaround, since most of this work lands inside a planned outage

How Rainbow supports it

Rainbow works this sector through both capability and partnership. Our principals — VELAN ABV of Italy for severe-service valves, Zhejiang Tiande Pump of China and SRI Energy of the USA — bring OEM-side knowledge, while in-house casing and impeller machining, white-metal bearings, hard chrome, HVOF on wear surfaces and dynamic balancing to 2,000 kg do the physical restoration — with in-situ teams available where a unit cannot be moved.

Our specialities

What we do for Pumps, Flow Control & Valves

01

Pump Casing & Impeller Restoration

Casings re-bored and fitted, impellers rebuilt and balanced, wear surfaces coated to recover clearance and efficiency.

02

Severe-Service Valve Overhaul

Seat, trim and sealing-face restoration on high-differential and erosive-duty valves, backed by our relationship with VELAN ABV.

03

Shaft & Sleeve Reclamation

Worn shafts and sleeves built back up by thermal spray or plating and ground to drawing tolerance.

04

Dynamic Balancing

In-house dynamic balancing up to 2,000 kg, so a rebuilt rotor runs as quietly as the original.

05

In-Situ Service

Round-the-clock in-situ machining and fitting for equipment that cannot leave its foundation.
